Hi and welcome! My name is Rich Hayden, here's a little about me:

I am a fully qualified, BACP registered counsellor and I also have a diploma in creative arts therapies. This means I work with either talking therapy alone or a blend of talking & creative therapies, whatever suits your needs best. I work with individuals and also run small creative arts therapy groups.

My aim is to provide a service that is effective, simple to access and encourages personal growth & healing. I work in a very open way; my intention is to ultimately give you the tools to understand and better navigate your issues, thoughts and feelings.

For many of us, words can sometimes be hard to find, especially when we have experienced something difficult. A creative approach offers us various unique and personal ways of expression and communication beyond talking.

It can work with anything creative, you don't even need to be "arty" or have any skills! It's less about making a finished masterpiece & more about the journey of creation. Click here to find out more about creative therapies.

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”

-  Carl Jung

I believe we are all unique & therefore have different needs from counselling. My focus is always on the best approach to support each client’s individual needs. Even with talking therapy I prefer to work creatively; ‘in the moment’ with what the client brings to the session and the inspiration we find together, rather than to a pre-determined analysis.

I offer one-hour sessions to adults and young people (aged 16+) from a safe, welcoming, comfortable and relaxed space in the centre of Cheltenham. I am experienced in supporting clients through a wide range of issues and welcome people from all backgrounds and walks of life. I am very accepting and easy to talk to; people describe me as open minded, non-judgemental, compassionate and curious.

I recognise that It can be difficult trying to choose the right counsellor without being face to face. That’s why I offer a reduced rate first session to give us the chance to meet before deciding to work together. I am happy to work with both long term clients and also with clients who prefer a more focussed, specific and time-limited approach. I welcome all questions and enquiries, which are treated confidentially and with no obligation.
